Is PTA only for parents?
No! PTA membership is open to anyone wanting to help build a strong community for our school and our kids. It takes a village. PTA is comprised of parents, teachers and other family and community members. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, sister, brother, neighbor or friend, come join us and help make our school and community great!
What is the cost to join?
A family membership is only $10.00 and includes membership for two adults. Membership fees go directly back into funding our PTA’s sponsored programs, activities and events at South Daytona Elementary School (SDE).
Does it require a lot of time and involvement?
Most of us are very busy between work, raising families and juggling everything else that comes with life. Luckily, being a PTA general member requires very little time! Our general meetings are held only once every other month in the evening. Between meetings, there may be events or activities that you wish to participate in, but it is not required and there is no pressure put on you to participate. Becoming a general PTA member is a stress-free way to be more involved with supporting our school and students, meet other SDE families, and keep up-to-date with things happening at school and in the community.
What do PTA members do?
Becoming a member helps you to better share your ideas with other parents, teachers and school administrators and become part of the decision-making process. PTA members have the opportunity to help in organizing a variety of school events and fundraising programs, assist in celebrating student successes, support teachers and students’ learning and growth, assist in deciding how PTA money is spent and aid in recruiting volunteers.

Can I become part of the PTA leadership team?
